But after Mark Carney’s first phone call with Trump as prime minister, the tone changed. Trump, known for his bombast and bullying, called the conversation “extremely productive.” Notably, he referred to Carney not as a governor—but as a prime minister. Why the sudden respect?
原因很简单，卡尼不是特鲁多。

If Canada tightens trade and regulatory ties with Europe as a counterbalance to U.S. unpredictability, it will hit Trump where it hurts: his economy. Europe, like Canada, is growing wary of U.S. protectionism, and Carney has both the network and the nerve to forge stronger alliances.
