I understand there’s uncertainty and fear as the world is fighting against the coronavirus outbreak. However, prejudice won’t help either.
As BC’s Health Medical Officer Dr. Bonnie Henry has said, fear will only obstruct the important work of our public health officials to protect the health and safety of all British Columbians.
In BC, we pride ourselves for our compassion and diversity. And while I’m glad The Province newspaper has apologized for the hurt caused by its troubling headline, we must continue to stand up against the incidents of hate in our communities and come together as one.
To make our home safe, we must support each other. We are fighting a virus, not people.
