5月27日，“以图为鉴：两岸故宫珍藏中国书画”讲座在Richmond 公共图书馆精藏室成功举行。
本次讲座是“以图为鉴：中国书画名家名品”鉴赏公益讲座的一期。辅以图书馆精藏室珍藏的北京故宫博物院和台北国立故宫博物院的大型画册，荣钢先生详细讲解了中国书画上的赫赫巨迹：顾恺之《洛神赋》、范宽《溪山行旅图》、顾闳中《韩熙载夜宴图》、韩滉《五牛图》、韩幹《牧马图》、张择端《清明上河图》 、黄公望《富春山居图》等国宝名品。
同时，荣钢先生饱含深情地讲述了十八岁创作出《千里江山图》的王希孟的天纵奇才；笔底明珠闲抛闲掷的徐渭的怀才不遇。还有王羲之的魏晋风骨，颜真卿的忠贞勇猛都给听众留下了深刻的印象，大家听得如痴如醉，不但了解了书画知识，也对中华文明的博大精深有了更深刻的体会。
位于市内的Richmond Public Library（列治文公共图书馆）精藏室更偏向于研究与查阅性质。无论是学生撰写本地历史作业、学者进行城市研究，还是居民想追溯家族移民史，都可以在馆员的协助下查找相关资料。馆内工作人员通常会协助访客使用档案索引系统，并指导如何调阅特定年代的报纸、照片或城市文件。
Richmond Public Library（列治文公共图书馆）精藏室之所以具有独特价值，不仅在于其安静的研究空间，更在于其收藏体系中所承载的艺术与文献深度。其中，由李国柱博士捐赠的5200多册珍贵艺术图书，构成了馆内极具代表性的核心馆藏之一。
这批藏书涵盖范围广泛，包括重要博物馆出版的书画图录、艺术研究专著，以及多种珍贵的古籍、字帖、拓片、等艺术文献，为北美地区少见的系统性中文艺术资料收藏。更值得广大读者的福音是，精藏室每周二、三、四下午2点到5点对外开放。同时，为了更好地利用这些珍贵资料，给书画爱好者提供一个近距离欣赏的机会，图书馆特邀书法专业硕士、书法家和书画鉴定专家荣钢先生开设系列讲座，每月一期，本次讲座是第五期。
On May 27, the lecture “Appreciation of the Special Collection on Chinese Culture – Learning from Pictures: Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy from the Palace Museums on Both Sides of the Strait” was successfully held in the Special Collection Room of Richmond Public Library.
This lecture was part of the “Learning from Pictures: Masterpieces of Chinese Painting and Calligraphy” public lecture series.
Richmond Public Library’s Special Collection on Chinese Culture features thousands of books donated by Dr. Kwok-Chu Lee (Master Lam Chun), with the Chinese Art collection as one of its highlights. It has over 5,200 books including many important museum catalogs of paintings and calligraphy, as well as ancient books, calligraphy rubbings, inscriptions, and documents. The space is open to the public every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoon from 2 pm to 5 pm. In addition, to better utilize these valuable materials and provide art lovers with an opportunity to appreciate them up close, the library has invited Mr. Rong Gang, a master of calligraphy, calligrapher, and expert in art authentication, to conduct a series of lectures monthly. This lecture is the fifth in the series.
